The purpose of Mahatma Gandhi in his work, 'The Story of My Experiments with Truth,' is not to present a traditional autobiography. Instead, he aims to recount the myriad of his experiments with truth, suggesting that the narrative naturally takes on an autobiographical form due to the integral role these experiences play in his life.

This influential autobiography spans from Gandhi's birth in 1869 to 1921, encompassing significant phases of his life including his childhood, education, early marriage, and legal studies abroad. The last chapter poignantly reflects on the public nature of his later life, indicating that much of his experiences are widely known.

As a central figure in India’s struggle for independence from British rule, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi earned the title 'The Father of the Nation.' Throughout his life, he has authored several notable works, including 'Character & Nation Building,' 'India of My Dreams,' and 'All Men are Brothers.'

Born on October 2, 1869, in Porbandar, Gujarat, Gandhi's activism reached a critical juncture in 1942 when he spearheaded the Quit India movement. This initiative aimed at urging the British to relinquish their hold on India. His commitment to this cause resulted in imprisonment on multiple occasions for alleged political offenses. Throughout his activism, he consistently upheld the principles of satyagraha, advocating non-violence as a means of protest.

The culmination of his efforts was met with profound sorrow during India’s partition, where he tirelessly sought peace between communities. Tragically, on January 30, 1948, Gandhi was assassinated by a Hindu nationalist, who accused him of favoring the Muslim population in a fraught socio-political context.
